The Best Business Movies

For many people business life has negative connotations. Therefore, with an automatic reaction, some may assume that movies which cover business related topics like economy, sales, trading, entrepreneurship, etc. are not interesting. Conversely, business life is full of fascinating stories. In this world it is very possible to find the best examples of drama, tragedy, and comedy. Hence, without ignoring this field, I wanted to list some of the best business movies of all time. No doubt that there are still many business movies that should have been included into the list. I will add them to the list in time. So feel free to suggest your favorites in the comments below if you think they should have been here. Have a good time!

The 5 Best Films About Business

#1 Glengarry Glen Ross (1992)

A drama movie adapted by David Mamet from his own Pulitzer-winner play with the same name.

The film is about real estate brokers in an agency and events that took place within 2 days. The corporate office sends a trainer to "motivate" the salesmen. He tells that all, except top 2 salesmen with highest sales record, will be fired. The atmosphere in the office becomes tense. Then we watch the drama of desperate and aggressive salesmen under pressure who has been turned into a kind of con men.

#2 Office Space (1999)

A cult comedy movie that criticizes business life.

In this movie, we watch the extraordinary transformation of Peter Gibbons, a frustrated and unmotivated programmer who works in a tech company, and his struggle against the corporate structure, together with some of his co-workers.

#3 Inside Job (2010)

A documentary movie about 2008 financial crisis that started in USA with worldwide consequences.

The name of the movie gives us a strong cue to the thesis of the movie. It is a story about how firms in the financial services industry in the US exploit the system for their own interests and how they use politics in this direction.

#4 Margin Call (2011)

A drama film about what happened in a large financial investment company in 24 hours at the dawn of the 2008 US financial crisis.

The film sheds light on the investment deception in the financial sector. It is a story about ambition, greedy and ruthlessness of players in the financial services industry for the sake of making more money.

#5 The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

A dark comedy based on memoirs with the same name by former stockbroker Jordan Belfort.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jordan Belfort in the movie. It recounts the story of Belfort's career as a stockbroker through Belfort's perspective.
